Issue Position: Health Care

The Reality: Government should not be in the health care business. The free market approach is preferable to leaving decisions to bureaucrats. More freedom to choose and innovate will keep our health care the best in the world.

The Reality: As a physician, I will use my experience in the healthcare field to push back against Obamacare. The states should have the ability to come up with market based answers to our health care challenges. Socialism is a proven failure and I will oppose measures that move us toward it. I support tax deductions for medical expenses, eliminating government red tape that make it difficult for small businesses to provide insurance and I will support measures that will increase the use of health savings accounts.

The Reality: I support smart common sense approaches to ending the unsustainable trajectory that state Medicaid spending is currently on. Medicaid reform passed this past legislative session by Sen. Liljenquist is an excellent start. If elected I will use my understanding of the healthcare delivery system to help our good leaders carry the reform effort all the way across the finish line.
