President Obama's asserted today that the private sector economy is "doing fine." State Senator and Candidate for U.S. Senate Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) wants to know whether his opponent, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, agrees.

"In my opinion, an unemployment rate above 8 percent for more than forty months in a row is not 'fine'. Twenty three million Americans out of work is not 'fine.' An economy that fails to deliver the jobs and growth our country needs is not 'fine.'

"Does Senator Menendez agree that those statistics represent a healthy economy?"

"The reason our nation's problems- like our massive debt and deficit-- are not being solved is because many of our elected leaders- including my opponent Senator Bob Menendez- refuse to look with intellectual honesty at the problems. This statement is the perfect example of that."

"Senator Menendez and other out-of-touch leaders in Washington think the answer to everything is more and bigger government. We already proved with the failure of the stimulus that creating band-aid government jobs doesn't work. We need policy that spurs job growth and investment-- not more government spending that we can't afford."

"What do you think Senator Menendez-- is our economy "doing fine?"
