Jackson Office Fosters Dog Through Washington Humane Society

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

In an effort to promote animal welfare awareness the Washington D.C. office of Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. recently accepted a foster dog through the Washington Humane Society. The Humane Society places pets in foster homes to add much needed space to their shelters, allowing them to save even more animals from dangerous situations and kill shelters, while also helping to build positive behavior and character in animals that may not do well in a shelter atmosphere.

Congressman Jackson shared his excitement at having Mocha, a one year old terrier mix, as a temporary staff member. "She's brought nothing but love and affection to the office since her arrival. Having her here, it's easy to see the importance of this program. I can't imagine Mocha spending her days in a shelter, mostly alone, hoping for a new home.

"I hope that anyone who's capable will consider participating in this genuinely rewarding program. More importantly, I hope those seeking pets will think about adopting someone like Mocha and those with pets will think about what happens when you leave them behind. The animals we take into our homes deserve to be valued family members for life."
