U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, MI-08, issued the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 436, the Health Care Cost Reduction Act of 2012.
"The new tax on medical innovation created by Obamacare would cost an estimated 40,000 high-paying jobs and force many of our brightest researchers and scientists to leave the country. This devastating $30 billion tax would also make everything in a doctor's office -- from cardiac defibrillators to MRI scanners -- more expensive for patients.
"We have American innovators to thank for the world's best medical technology. In order to keep the United States as the world leader in medical innovation, we must repeal this devastating tax, which will start hitting U.S. entrepreneurs next year."
Note: H.R. 436 is a centerpiece of Rogers' 12-point jobs creation plan that can be followed on his website at mikerogers.house.gov. The Senate needs to pass the bill before it can be sent to the president for his signature.
