For all of the talk of job-creating on the Hill, Congressman Tim Scott (R.-S.C.) thinks it's time for lawmakers to listen.

That's why he's organized a daylong "entrepreneurship conference" on May 31st for lawmakers and CEOs to get together and get down to brass tacks.

"I thought it would be important to start a conversation about what real tax reform would look like, about what regulatory reforms would help our economy," Scott said. "For me, it makes sense to bring business leaders to the table so we can have a frank and honest discussion about the type of environment we want to work in."

Among the business leaders Scott confirmed are attending: Steve Forbes, Domino's Pizza CEO Patrick Doyle, Honeywell CEO Dave Cote, and Priceline founder Jay Walker.

Scott said he has invited many of his colleagues and said that Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp have said they will participate.

He's hoping some Democrats show up too.

"I have had this conversation with some of my good friends on the left," he said, "and some of them are considering it."

Scott, one of the most outspoken conservative members of the freshmen class, said even though Congress is stuck in the mud legislatively there is no time like the present to try and find some traction on tax reform.

"The one thing I remember from my years as an entrepreneur…is that if you aren't talking, nothing is happening," he said. "This brings the dialogue and the conversation to the forefront."
