Congressman Rick Berg (R-ND) issued the following statement on Tuesday night's victory in the North Dakota Primary Election for the United States Senate.

"Tracy and I are humbled by the support of the thousands of North Dakotans that have joined our campaign to bring the North Dakota way to the US Senate," Berg stated. "Tonight puts us one step closer to preventing Washington from destroying our economy with debts we can't afford to pay back, to preventing Obamacare from making our medical decisions for us, and to ending the over-regulation of our economy and start growing it. With the continued support of North Dakotans throughout the state, we will win in November, we will change the U.S. Senate and we will restore the promise of the American dream for future generations."

In March, Rick Berg received the unanimous endorsement for the United States Senate from the North Dakota Republican Party.

In 2010, Rick Berg defeated nine-term incumbent Rep. Earl Pomeroy with 55 percent of the vote. To date, the campaign's success has been highlighted by a well-organized grassroots network with District Captains in each of North Dakota's 47 legislative districts. Rick Berg will face Democrat Heidi Heitkamp in the General Election on November 6, 2012.
