Issue Position: Jobs

Issue Position

When most politicians see a problem they talk about it, form a committee, commission a report--and nothing changes. Steven Horsford is different.

He saw Nevadans out of work and thousands of hospitality jobs that needed to be filled so he went to work with unions and businesses as the CEO of the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas, training thousands of Nevada workers a year and placing them in good paying jobs. Others talk--Horsford gets things done.

In the State Senate, Steven invested in infrastructure to help create jobs and reformed Nevada's economic development strategy to target high-growth industries that can diversify the state's economy and create new, higher-paying jobs in fields such as health care, medical research and renewable energy.

Steven Horsford believes there's no greater priority than putting people back to work. When he is in Congress, Steven will fight for a jobs plan that:

Makes tax cuts for the middle class, working families and small businesses permanent;

Incentivizes small businesses to hire in the next 6 months by exempting payroll taxes on people who have been unemployed for at least one year;

Reduces and eliminates the regulatory burden on small business to grow and expand, and;

Repairs our roads and highways transit, passenger rail and aviation services to move people and products faster and safer. This triple win makes Nevada a better place to live and run a business -- while putting thousands of Nevadans to work.
