Jon was elected to the Senate as a leader in government transparency. And in his first term, Jon has blazed a trail for openness and accountability that all Montanans can be proud of.

Saying that "a little sunshine on government is always a good thing," Jon established a standard for transparency and ethics in his offices that is unmatched in Congress.

Jon has focused on setting a higher standard across government, making sure public access keeps up with new technology.

Jon proposes putting government documents and information from all corners online in free, searchable clearinghouses. This will empower Montanans and the American public to know exactly how their government works and to demand accountability from their leaders.

And Jon wants to repeal automatic Congressional pay raises. Jon believes, especially when families across Montana are struggling, that public service should be about improving lives, not about a paycheck.
