New Documents Show Senior DOJ Officials Were Informed of Gunwalking in Fast and Furious

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman, Darrell Issa, sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder with new documents showing that senior Justice Department Officials in Washington were aware of questionable tactics being used in Operation Fast and Furious. Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle (NY-25), a member of the committee, released the following statement regarding this development:

"I applaud Chairman Issa for his continued persistence in holding Attorney General Eric Holder and the Department of Justice accountable for Operation Fast and Furious.

"Mr. Holder has consistently maintained that senior officials at the DOJ were not involved in Operation Fast and Furious or that the wiretap applications they reviewed did not contain details about the irresponsible tactics being used. These new documents show this to be false. The Attorney General has been anything but cooperative throughout the congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious.

"Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and hundreds of innocent Mexicans are dead because of Operation Fast and Furious. Someone must be held accountable. The Terry family deserves to know how this happened."
