Adams Demands Answers From the VA

Statement

Date: June 6, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Veterans

Representative Sandy Adams (FL-24) sent a letter to Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki to get a clear and definitive answer on the completion date of the Orlando VA Medical Center. VA officials and the prime contractor have released conflicting date estimates, leading Adams to believe they are not being forthright with members of Congress or the veterans who need the medical center.

"It is time that the VA provides Congress and the veterans who need the Orlando VA Medical Center with some answers. The facility has been plagued by delays and has experienced major deficiencies in both management and planning, which are facts that took the VA until late last year to finally report to Congress. Since then, the department and the prime contractor have released conflicting completion date estimates and information. With hundreds of thousands of veterans in the Central Florida area, this facility is vital to ensure they get the care they deserve for their service-connected medical needs. I expect answers from Secretary Shinseki."
