There are several contributing factors causing our federal budget deficit. One of the biggest contributing factors is out of control spending. Our federal government is committed to so many projects that it can no longer afford to fund them. In essence, they are committed to spending more money than they are bringing in. To cover these commitments, our Federal Government has borrowed over $15 trillion. Much of this debt is held by foreign countries, and yet more is owned by our posterity. The interest on that debt alone is $460 billion per year. Let me say that again. Much of our debt will have to be paid off by future generations of Americans. We owe it to our children and our grandchildren to be fiscally responsible. Nothing less.

One of the rallying cries of the Revolutionary War was "no taxation without representation". Think about the morality of our debt situation in those terms. The federal government is putting our children into debt. My twelve year-old daughter is not old enough to vote right now; however, once she is old enough to vote, and she enters the workforce, she will have to pay for things that she had absolutely no say in. If this is not taxation without representation, I don't know what it is. We have a moral responsibility and a parental responsibility to get a grasp on this debt.

My opponents in this race claim that they can balance the budget, reduce the deficit, and still provide you with all of the things they have promised. This is a lie. It cannot be done. Simple math proves them wrong. They claim that they can accomplish a balanced budget simply by trimming fat from the edges, or by extending the debt ceiling. Again, this is a lie. They are doing nothing more than pandering. We need to take a big swing at this out of control budget. The only way we're going to prevent bankruptcy is to drastically reduce the size, scope, and role of government. In other words, we need to return to constitutional governance. We need to shutdown and defund every government entity that is not authorized in Article I, Section 8 of our Constitution. Furthermore, we need to repeal Obamacare and any other piece of legislation that our Congress is not authorized to pass under Article I, Section 8.

If elected to Congress, I promise constitutional governance. This alone will put us on the track to fiscal responsibility. We have a moral responsibility to our posterity, to not vote them into debt. If this means we must eliminate large portions of our federal government, so be it. I am prepared to take the steps necessary to accomplish this, and extending the debt ceiling so we can increase spending is not part of my plan.
