U.S. Rep. Gary Peters Votes Against GOP Bill that would Block Women's Access to Reproductive Services

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

Today U.S. Rep. Gary Peters voted against an extremist House Republican bill that would threaten women's ability to access reproductive services. Following the vote, Congressman Peters issued the following statement.

"Today House Republicans sent a clear message that they don't think that American women are capable of making their own decisions about their own bodies," said U.S. Rep. Gary Peters. "For the GOP to interfere with the doctor-patient relationship is completely inappropriate and offensive. I strongly support a woman's right to choose and I'll never stop fighting the extreme right wing's continued attempts to get between doctors and their patients."

This extremist bill is formally opposed by NARAL Pro-Choice America, the American Public Health Association, the National Women's Law Center, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and dozens of other medical, civil-rights and faith based organizations.
