U.S. veterans returning home from service are having an increasingly difficult time finding jobs, but the program Vow to Hire Heroes is working to change that.

The program targets hiring veterans who are 35 or older in high-tech industries. Vow to Hire Heroes gives a tax break to employers who hire veterans and attempts to focus on veterans just returning from service.

According to Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, vet unemployment is about 30 to 40-percent higher than average citizens.

"Not only is the unemployment rate very high, but suicides are high, and homelessness is high. We're having a repeat of the Vietnam Era, where the increasing percentage of our homeless people are veterans. This is very disturbing, and we're working very hard to correct this," says Congressman Bartlett, (R) Md. 6th District.
