Statement

Date: May 25, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Transportation

U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, released the following statement today on the reopening of the Eggner Ferry Bridge:

"I applaud the quick and efficient work done to reopen the Eggner Ferry Bridge a few days earlier than anticipated. By reopening just before this busy travel holiday weekend, Kentuckians will be able to more easily visit family and friends and get to area recreation facilities.

"I understand the impact the closure of the Eggner Ferry Bridge has had on many aspects of the lives of those who use it, ranging from the inconvenience of a longer work commute to a potentially life threatening situation of delayed emergency services or medical care.

"I wish everyone a very safe and fun Memorial Day weekend. And I congratulate everyone involved in getting the Eggner Ferry Bridge repaired and reopened."
