Congressman Ted Deutch released this statement in reaction tolate-breaking news that the Department of Justice sent a letter to the Florida Secretary of State requesting a suspension of an ongoing voter purge:
"As more and more legitimate voters throughout Florida find their voting rights in jeopardy, I applaud the Department of Justice for calling on Governor Scott to suspend this outrageous voter purge. This purge is neither transparent nor accurate, and it violates federal law. The Department of Justice's letter, and the decision issued by a federal judge blocking key elements of Florida's voter suppression law, form two major blows against Governor Scotts blatant campaign to suppress the vote immediately in advance of the presidential election."
Yesterday, Congressman Ted Deutch sent a letter to Florida Governor Rick Scott requesting an immediate suspension of his error-ridden voter purge operation. Hundreds of legitimate voters have incorrectly been placed on the Governor's purge list, including a World War II veteran and Bronze Star winner who met with Congressman Deutch earlier this week.
