McIntyre: Putting People Over Partisanship, Issues over Ideology, and Doing What is Best for Eastern North Carolina

Press Release

Location: Unknown

The Mike McIntyre for Congress Campaign Committee released the following statement tonight after the GOP primary results.

Congressman McIntyre stated, "Putting people over politics, issues over ideology, and always doing what is best for Eastern North Carolina is my focus. Our nation is facing difficult challenges, and it is important that elected officials reflect the values of our area, fight for our families and our future, and never lose sight of always working for the people and local communities."

McIntyre emphasized, "That's why I want to continue helping Eastern North Carolina by creating jobs, preserving Social Security and Medicare, ensuring our farmers can feed and clothe our nation, protecting our beautiful coast, honoring and fighting for our veterans, and always protecting the faith and values we share as North Carolinians."

Never beholden to a national partisan agenda, McIntyre has a clear track record of working with Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to do what is best for Eastern North Carolina families and communities. This includes:

voting for the Balanced Budget Amendment to cut spending;

quadrupling the number of veterans clinics in our district;
voting to extend tax cuts;

opposing efforts to reduce Social Security and Medicare benefits;

developing "Make it in America' legislation to create jobs here;

fighting for rural communities, their fire departments, rescue squads, and law enforcement;

preserving and promoting our beaches, inlets, and waterways;

enhancing North Carolina's military bases;

and serving as Co-Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus and providing leadership to maintain the role of faith and prayer in our society.
