The Mark Critz campaign today announced that President Bill Clinton is endorsing Mark Critz in the race for the 12th Congressional District. In urging Democrats to support Critz in the April 24th primary, President Clinton praised him for his focus on job creation and his commitment to protecting Social Security and Medicare. President Clinton is by far the most popular political figure nationally and in western Pennsylvania.
"I am proud to endorse Mark Critz for Congress," said President Clinton. "I know that Mark will continue his work to create jobs, strengthen the middle class, to protect Social Security and Medicare, and do what is right for western Pennsylvania and our nation."
President Clinton turned around the national economy and changed perennial budget deficits into budget surpluses for the first time since the Vietnam War. Critz has made job creation his top priority in Congress and is a leader in Congress to end China's currency manipulation, which is killing American manufacturing jobs. Critz has been endorsed by nearly every major labor union, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and the Alliance for Retired Americans.
"It is an honor to be endorsed by President Bill Clinton because he knows what it takes to turn an economy around and put people back to work," Critz said. "President Clinton's leadership on job creation and protecting important programs like Social Security and Medicare is something I have tried to emulate in Congress."
Critz began airing a new television commercial at 5PM today which highlights President Clinton's endorsement while also pointing to Jason Altmire's support for the Republican Balanced Budget Amendment which would lead to massive cuts to Social Security and Medicare. President Clinton opposed the Balanced Budget Amendment as President, and also opposed the nearly identical version of the Amendment that Altmire voted for in 2011.
