King Statement on Markup of FY 2013 DHS Appropriations Bill

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Rep. Peter T. King (R-NY), Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, issued the following statement upon the passage of the FY 2013 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill by the House Appropriations Committee:

King said: "During these very tough fiscal times, I am pleased that Chairman Aderholt has recognized the importance of, and increased funding for, the Homeland Security Grant Program, which provides vital resources to address the most critical homeland security needs in the country's highest-risk areas, such as New York City and Long Island.

"These grant funds are vital to securing the cities that are at the top of terrorists' target list. I appreciate Chairman Aderholt's commitment to a risk-based appropriations approach, and I look forward to voting for this bill on the House floor."
