Pearce Votes for Defense Authorization

Statement

Date: May 18, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Today, Congressman Steve Pearce voted for the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 (NDAA), which authorizes defense appropriations.

"The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) gives our military the authority to undergo its missions worldwide, benefitting soldiers from Holloman to Tora Bora in Afghanistan," said Pearce. "Every time I have voted on the NDAA since 2003, I have considered it possibly the most important vote of the year."

"We currently have troops in harm's way," Pearce continued. "My experiences in the Vietnam War remind me constantly that we must protect them and provide them with adequate funding. Washington cannot cut off funds to the men and women who so bravely protect our nation. As always, I support our troops and am pleased that the House voted to authorize the military to operate for another year."

The NDAA for Fiscal Year 2013 passed the House of Representatives today.
