Denham on End of Employment at GSA for Neely: "It's about time"

Press Release

Date: May 24, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management Subcommittee Chairman Jeff Denham released the following statement Thursday after the General Services Administration (GSA) announced that Jeffrey Neely, the GSA regional commissioner behind the outrageous $800,000 Las Vegas conference in 2010, has left the agency:

"It's about time the taxpayers aren't footing the bill to keep Mr. Neely on the federal payroll at GSA. However, the outrageous cycle of fraud, waste and abuse within GSA is not limited to any one person, and I will continue to demand answers and take appropriate action to see to it that this never happens again."

At the close of an April Subcommittee hearing on GSA's abusive spending habits, Chairman Denham stated he would continue to examine the fundamental purpose of the General Services Administration, and unless the agency can justify their need to exist, will develop a series of legislative measures to systematically dismantle GSA.
