U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, R6th, has a simple message when it comes to whether Frederick County agencies should get federal reimbursement for costs associated with this week's G-8 summit at Camp David.
"Fair is fair," Bartlett said Tuesday in a phone interview. "The least they can do is recompense the cost."
Bartlett fired off a letter to President Barack Obama this week to make his concerns known.
In the letter, Bartlett asked that the G-8 summit receive a "Special Security Event" designation, which would permit reimbursement of local agencies for the "considerable expense."
Bartlett said he was seeking the full amount that is ultimately spent by local agencies for staffing related to G8 security. Chicago, the host of the upcoming North Atlantic Treaty Organization meeting next week -- is getting $40 million, officials said this week "They need to spend the money where the people are and the security is going to be increased, and that is here in Frederick County," Bartlett said.
