U.S. Congressman Todd Rokita is claiming a degree of success in the first year of his 'Red Tape Rollback' Program.

The program sets out to get rid of regulations and rules that businesses and individuals view as over-reaching and constricting. One example he pointed out was a regulation by the Department of Labor that barred the number of hours teens and children could work on a farm, a regulation that was later repealed.

Congressman Rokita is claiming victory on that and 17 other issues. He said the goal is to restore common sense in regulation and hopefully bring more awareness.

"No one is saying, 'here, get rid of of all regulations.' The fact of the matter is they come so fast and furious, regulations if you stack them up it would be 15 feet high, and that's just ones that have been promulgated this calendar year," said Rokita.

Area farmers, Purdue officials and medical field professionals came forward today also to re-count some of the success they have seen through the program.
