The Great Recession may be over, but millions of Americans are still struggling to make ends meet. Nita supports a comprehensive strategy for job creation and economic growth.
Job Creation: Nita voted for legislation that helped create or save millions of jobs, which most economics credit with averting a second Great Depression. And Nita fought for tax credits that help small businesses expand and bring on new workers. By contrast, the 2011-2012 House Republican House majority has failed to offer any job creation agenda and has approved reckless cuts that would wipe out millions of existing jobs.
Tax Relief: Nita backed legislation that provided a tax cut to 95% of American workers. She would permanently exempt 99.8% of estates from any federal tax obligation. And Nita voted to cut taxes for small businesses to help entrepreneurs succeed and bring on new employees.
Fiscal Responsibility: Nita voted for the largest annual federal spending cut in history and strongly supports pay-as-you-go budget rules to restore fiscal sanity in Washington and reduce the federal budget deficit. But Nita opposes the Republican budget blueprint that would eviscerate Medicare, while providing huge tax breaks to Big Oil and companies that ship jobs overseas.
Innovation: Nita understands that innovation is the key to American competitiveness and long-term growth. That's why she has supported targeted investments in clean energy, transportation and technology. And that's why she is fighting against dangerous Republican proposals to defund vital infrastructure.
