Location: Western New York

USDA Rural Development has announced $99,000 in USDA grant money for the Village of Holley in Orleans County to improve and expand the parking lot of the recently opened Save-A-Lot grocery store, a project which Congresswoman Kathy Hochul has supported.

"I'm pleased that USDA Rural Development recognized the importance of the Save-A-Lot store and this project to the economic vitality of the Village of Holley. Not only will the renovated parking lot ease street congestion and give residents greater access to village businesses, the construction project itself will create jobs," Congresswoman Hochul said.

"This project will have a tremendous impact on Village residents," Village Trustee David Dill said. "The Village of Holley appreciates the continued support of Congresswoman Hochul and USDA Rural Development."

The USDA funding comes from Rural Development's Rural Economic Business Enterprise Grant program (RBEG) which provides grants for rural projects that finance and facilitate the development of small and emerging rural businesses. In March, Congresswoman Hochul wrote to Tom Vilsack, US Secretary of Agriculture, in support of the Village's funding application.

Congresswoman Hochul was instrumental in securing a $581,250 loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration for the Save-A-Lot store to open for business in February of this year
