Congressman John Mica (FL-07)issued the following statement after House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darryl Issa's staff briefing paper and draft of the contempt of Congress charge against Attorney General Eric Holder:
"The continued refusal of U.S. Attorney General Holder and the Department of Justice to provide the requested documents to the House Oversight Committee is unacceptable. Those responsible for the actions in Operation Fast and Furious, which led to the death of American law enforcement officers, must be held accountable. We cannot allow the Department of Justice to continue obstructing justice.
I strongly support the efforts by Chairman Issa and the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee as we look for the appropriate answers, and I will continue to call for the resignation of the Attorney General as he promotes a culture of obstruction from our country's top law enforcement agency."
