Rep. Farenthold Encourages the Oversight Committee to Move Forward with Contempt Proceedings Against AG Holder

Statement

Date: May 4, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

After the Department of Justice's continued refusal to cooperate with the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on the gun running investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious, Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) issued the following statement on the contempt of Congress proceedings:

"The Department of Justice has consistently stonewalled the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, refusing to turn over documents and information that could shed light on who is responsible for the transfer of over two thousand weapons to Mexican drug cartels, including one used in the murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. After reviewing all the information, the case for contempt is clear. I am urging Chairman Darrell Issa to move forward with proceedings to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress."
