Governor Nixon Praises Passage of Show-Me Heroes Bill to Help Missouri Veterans Get Jobs

Location: Jefferson City, MO

Gov. Jay Nixon has released the following statement regarding the Missouri Senate vote on House Bill 1680 today:

"Our veterans have served our country honorably and, time and again, have demonstrated their commitment, aptitude and professionalism - qualities that employers prize in prospective employees. Already, more than 1,500 Missouri military veterans have been hired by Missouri businesses that have signed up for our Show-Me Heroes program. The bill passed by the General Assembly today will expand this successful program to provide on-the-job training to veterans who have recently left military service.

"I said in my State of the State address this year that we would work tirelessly to create job opportunities for every veteran in our state. Today's vote on this legislation is another step forward. I appreciate the work of Sen. Pearce and Rep. Davis on this vital bill for Missouri veterans."
