Issue Position: Intrastructure

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

Infrastructure comprises the backbone of physical structure and services that virtually hold the country together and keep it running. Our roads, bridges, electrical grid, dams and levees, etc. have been crumbling for years, and the vision and the will must be summoned to invest in it, or the future of our country will be gravely threatened. Fortunately, rebuilding and repairing creates huge numbers of jobs. Republicans have opposed adequate funding for infrastructure, which is inconsistent with their rhetoric about preserving American greatness. Congress must maintain support to the states for work on all of our traditional infrastructure, but in addition, now is the time to build new systems for the future. Unfortunately, the US has been lagging behind many other countries in developing and implementing new technology.
