Sutton Calls on Congress Not to Play Politics with Students, Cut Health Care for Women

Press Release

Date: April 27, 2012

Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (OH-13) released the following statement announcing her intention to vote NO on H.R. 4628, a cynical House Republican attempt to cut critical preventative health care programs such as breast and cervical cancer screenings and children's immunizations:

"Instead of working to help our students by lowering their student loan rates, House Republicans continue to show their true colors; putting tax cuts for millionaires over the health of women and children. I urge House Republicans to stop playing games with our middle-class and our future, and work to ensure that student loan rates stay low while protecting Ohio families."

A strong supporter of working-class families, Sutton has supported efforts to keep student loan interest rates low so that Ohio families can afford access to higher-education.
