Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) issued the following statement after he voted for H.R. 4348 -- the Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2012, Part II:
"As Louisiana's only representative on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I am proud to have voted to advance this bill in the House. By passing today's Transportation Act, we are able to move forward two major goals of mine -- port dredging and coastal restoration. I am pleased the Boustany Amendment passed the House by voice vote. This amendment, like the language my coalition got inserted into the Budget, is another important step towards ensuring the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund is used for its intended purpose -- dredging our nation's waterways. And I am proud to have supported a version of Congressman Scalise's RESTORE Act, which ensures BP's oil spill fines go to the states most impacted. Growing up in South Louisiana taught me to cherish and fight for our coast, something I have worked tirelessly to do since coming to Congress. I am glad my colleagues joined me today in protecting our coastline and its essential infrastructure for our country's economy."
