Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (IL-06) issued the following release marking Tax Day:
"Today Americans are reminded exactly how much of their hard-earned money they must hand over to the government. In order to spur our economy and create jobs we must let them keep more of what they earn and fix our overly complex and outdated tax code by pursuing comprehensive, pro-growth tax reform. Unfortunately President Obama continues to insist that raising taxes is the answer. His so-called "Buffet Rule' is broadly considered a political gimmick that is out of touch with reality. While the Senate spent the week voting on this tax increase which won't create a single job or reduce our debt, House Republicans are voting on the Small Business Tax Cut to provide Americans with tax relief, help create jobs and grow the economy. It's time Washington stopped hurting and started helping America's job creators. "
