Young Launches Bipartisan Government Efficiency Caucus

Press Release

Date: April 17, 2012

Rep. Todd Young (R-IN) announced on Tuesday that he and Rep. Jim Matheson (D-UT) are creating a new Government Efficiency Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives. The caucus will look at adapting best practices from the private sector for use by the federal government.

"I spent a good early part of my career as a management consultant for local and state governments," said Young. "We looked at ways for them to run more efficiently by studying private sector business practices, and I think we need that same sort of effort in the federal government. I'm proud to work across the aisle with Congressman Matheson to that end."

One of the immediate priorities for the Government Efficiency Caucus will be to bring together members of Congress and private sector experts to discuss the role of effective program managers play in improving government operations and saving money. Strong program management professionals are essential to effective stewardship of taxpayer funds, ensuring that disparate stakeholders are aligned, tensions between on-time delivery and market functionality are managed, and issues are escalated before they become roadblocks.
