Continuing his fight for victims of the oil spill and the President's drilling moratorium, Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) today requested the Plaintiffs Steering Committee (PSC) include coverage of claims based on moratorium losses in their recommendations to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
In a letter to the PSC, Landry highlights the chain of causation between the spill and the moratorium. "Considering these facts, I respectfully recommend the Court and the parties ensure those affected by the moratorium are adequately compensated," wrote Landry to the PSC.
Landry, a former small business owner in the oil and gas industry, has worked tirelessly to ensure those negatively impacted are compensated fairly and promptly. He is hopeful the PSC and the Court will ensure those affected by the moratorium are adequately compensated.
"The President's senseless moratorium killed thousands of jobs and jeopardized the American dream for many in South Louisiana," said Landry. "I hope the PSC will agree to my request and BP will compensate our commercial fishermen, shrimpers, and oilfield workers impacted by the President's moratorium as fairly and quickly as possible."
