Rep. Barton Prays for Victims, Vows to Help with Recovery

Statement

Date: April 3, 2012
Location: Arlington, VA

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington) released the following statement responding to today's violent weather that hit North Texas:

"My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by today's violent storms in our area.

"I visited the Emergency Operation Center in Arlington and I applaud the teamwork displayed by first responders in that city, Kennedale and the surrounding area. They were warning residents before the storm hit and had assessment teams in the field before the rain even stopped falling.

"My staff and I are also in the community inspecting the damage, offering any assistance we can provide.

"I want to thank local charitable organizations, like the Red Cross and Salvation Army, who are already setting up in damaged neighborhoods making sure storm victims have shelter and food.

"I have told local leaders that I will do whatever is necessary to make sure they have the federal resources they need as quickly as possible so residents can start the recovery process."
