Issue Position

We must be fiscally responsible and live within our means as a state. Washington is out of money, and the time will soon come when the federal government stops supplying Utah with one-third of our annual budget. We must roll up our sleeves and prepare for the day when Washington stops writing checks it cannot cash. David Kirkham will focus on reducing Utah's $3.5 billion debt and ensuring a balanced budget so that Utah can stand on its own two feet regardless of what happens in Washington. Now, more than ever, Utah must be self-sufficient.
