Medicare is a federally administered program aimed at those over 65, to provide healthcare coverage for those that don't have insurance. Again, the basic problem is open-ended reimbursement of medicare expenses. Our country wants the best health care that money can buy, but the result has been a growing deficit in light of skyrocketing costs. As a result, access to health care has been hurt and the quality of care has gone down. This is a dilemma that Congress has been unwilling to face as the bill gets higher and higher. Congress must act both to cut costs and to provide a long term fix to the reimbursement process for Medical providers. America's doctors should be comfortable with Medicare payments so that seniors will continue to receive the care they deserve.
