Southerland Votes to Restore Common Sense in Budgeting, Save Medicare

Location: Washington, DC

Representative Steve Southerland, II issued the following statement today after his vote in support of the House-approved Path to Prosperity budget:

"Just hours after rejecting the President's budget proposal without a single vote of support from either party, the House approved today a responsible, pro-growth budget that cuts spending by $5 trillion from the President's request, while shrinking the size of government and reforming our broken tax code. Just as importantly, the spending plan preserves Medicare without change for our seniors, while providing a bipartisan solution that strengthens the program for future generations. Meanwhile, the clock continues to tick on the Senate, which has failed to pass a constitutionally-mandated yearly budget in 1,065 days."
