Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) made the following statement after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) voted 4-1 to approve the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station's combined construction and operating permits (COLs).
"The NRC's approval of the permit for SCE&G's and Santee Cooper's co-owned V.C. Summer Nuclear Station is a huge win for South Carolina as well as America's "nuclear renaissance." This new source of nuclear will allow South Carolina to lead domestic energy production by supplying a source of reliable, secure and sustainable energy."
