"Today I joined my House colleagues in voting for the Republican budget resolution offered by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan. The FY13 House Budget proposal is indicative of our serious intent to put America on a different fiscal path, ending the era of trillion dollar deficits.

"It illustrates our desire to reform the tax code for a fairer, simpler tax policy and a desperately needed reduction in the corporate tax rate to make American companies more competitive with their global counterparts.

"The budget also provides a logical and sensible approach to eliminating the threat the looming sequester has on national defense. Now is not the time to reduce America's ability to project power and ensure our strategic national interests are protected.

"Once again, the House is leading by example. Given the Senate has not produced a budget in over three years, and the President's budget proposal failed to receive a single vote in the House (0-414), I am hopeful the electorate will remember who is serious about America's future."
