Congressman Aaron Schock (R-IL) issued the following statement after it was announced today that Sam LaHood and six other Americans have been released from Egyptian custody and are enroute back to the United States.

"We can breathe a little easier today after learning of the news that Egyptian officials made the right and only decision in releasing Sam LaHood and six other Americans from their custody. The horrifying experience that all seven Americans went through was unacceptable from the start. Throughout this difficult period of time, the demeanor in which they handled themselves makes us all very proud.

"I want to thank Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her relentless determination to ending this situation as quickly as possible. Her resolve from the moment the news broke that they were being held to now deserves high praise from us all."
