Issue Position

The federal government, in the 2009 and 2010 stimulus packages, spent $2.2 billion of your tax dollars in Missouri, yet unemployment in Missouri is currently 9.4 percent. Do you believe unemployment would be higher or lower without these large expenditures?

Many economists believe that the uncertainty in the economy is causing small businesses to defer investments that would allow them to expand their businesses and create jobs. Do you agree or disagree? Do you have any examples or personal experiences related to this issue?

In Missouri, and in many other states, workers are required to join a union or pay union dues in order to work in a particular job. Do you believe more jobs would be created and the economy would grow if workers had the freedom to choose whether or not to join a union?

Do you have friends or family members who have lost a job recently? What do you believe are the reasons they lost their job? What do you believe are the keys to getting our economy back on the right track, so that there are jobs and opportunities for the people of this country?
