Today, Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO) voted to promote job creation and allow new small businesses to cut through government red tape. The Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act passed the House of Representatives in overwhelming bipartisan fashion by a vote of 390-23.

"This is commonsense legislation that will allow entrepreneurs to invest in businesses and energize job creation," Rep. Gardner said. "It is promising that Republicans and Democrats can put partisan differences aside in an effort to create jobs and boost the economy."

Specifically, this legislation simplifies certain rules that the Securities and Exchange Commission enforces on small companies hoping to become a publicly traded company. It would also enable small companies to solicit investment when going public, allowing for new small business growth and opening companies up to a larger pool of investors.
