Senator Franken Joins Bipartisan General Aviation Caucus

Statement

Date: March 12, 2012
Issues: Transportation

Today, U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) announced that he has joined the bipartisan Senate General Aviation Caucus, which advocates for the resources the general aviation community needs to create jobs and provide a vital air transportation network. The caucus was formed by Sens. Mark Begich (D-Alaska) and Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) in 2009.

"Minnesota's general aviation community creates jobs all over the state and provides a transportation network that allows people and goods to travel around the country," said Sen. Franken. "I'm pleased to announce that I've joined the Senate's General Aviation Caucus, where I'll be able to continue to fight for legislation that will allow Minnesota's general aviation industry to flourish."

Since his election to the Senate, Sen. Franken has been a tireless advocate for Minnesota's general aviation community. In June, Sen. Franken and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) successfully pressed the Chinese purchaser of Cirrus Aircraft to keep the company open in Duluth, supporting dozens of jobs in the community.
