Congressman Steve Scalise today issued the following statement regarding the Senate's action on the RESTORE ACT.
"I commend Senator Landrieu for her leadership in passing the RESTORE Act through the Senate, as well as Senator Vitter, and the entire Gulf Coast coalition for their tireless work to include this critical language into the Senate transportation bill," Scalise said. "I also applaud their Senate colleagues for recognizing the importance of fully restoring the Gulf Coast region still dealing with the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
"Just last month, the House of Representatives went on record in passing my amendment to dedicate 80% of BP fines to the Gulf Coast, and I continue working with House Leaders to ensure that the RESTORE Act passes Congress and is signed into law by President Obama. Today's Senate action is another major step towards final passage of the RESTORE Act, and we will continue working hard to ensure that Louisiana, and all the Gulf States, have the resources we need to fully recover from the Deepwater Horizon disaster."
