Congressman Rick Berg today released the following statement in response to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' recent report that the national unemployment rate has remained unchanged from January at 8.3 percent.
"With the national unemployment rate remaining unchanged from last month and staying above 8 percent for every month of the Obama presidency, it's clear that the American people need new solutions to the economic challenges facing our nation. There are 300,000 more Americans without jobs than when President Obama's trillion dollar stimulus was passed three years ago," Berg stated. "To get Americans back to work and our economy back on track, President Obama and the Democrat Senate should look to North Dakota for common sense solutions, rather than continuing to block job-creating projects, as the President did again yesterday by waging a personal campaign against Senator Hoeven's proposal to move forward construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. To get our economy turned around, President Obama and Senate Democrats need to work alongside the House to lower regulatory burdens on America's job creators, encourage domestic energy production, and provide American families and small businesses with certainty to invest in our economy."
