With President Obama scheduled to address high gas prices during his campaign visit to Florida Thursday, U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) issued the following statement on the President's energy policies:

"Floridians have been particularly hard-hit by President Obama's anti-energy policies, which have caused more pain at the pump and cost us much-needed jobs. Gas prices have almost doubled since President Obama took office, and Floridians are paying an average of $3.67 per gallon.
"Families in Florida who are struggling to make ends meet under the crunch of soaring gas prices don't need President Obama to give another speech; they need the President to stop blocking American energy production. President Obama needs to approve the Keystone Pipeline, open new areas for energy exploration, and demand that the Senate vote on the bills we passed in the House to expand American energy production and create jobs."

Last week, Congressman Rooney voted in favor of a comprehensive energy plan approved by the House. Rooney has introduced comprehensive jobs legislation that includes provisions to create jobs and reduce gas prices by expanding American energy production.
