Congresswoman Susan Davis Listens to Small Business Owners in Lemon Grove and Spring Valley

Press Release

Date: Feb. 13, 2012
Location: Lemon Grove, CA

Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) did a small business "walkabout" in Lemon Grove and Spring Valley talking to and hearing from local business owners.

"Small businesses are the engine of our economy and the real job creators," said Rep. Davis. "Getting their thoughts and feedback on the economic recovery is critical if we are going to keep growing our economy and create good middle class jobs. While these small businesses and entrepreneurs will lead the charge to a more robust economy, the government's role is to learn how we can help them along the way."

Among some of the businesses Davis heard from were the owners of Grove Pastry Shop, in business since 1947, and Mario's Family Clothing Center, specializing in affordable clothing and school and work uniforms, is a family run business that opened its first store in 1968.

During her meetings, Davis hoped to get feedback on the lending practices by banks, consumer spending, and ideas to help small businesses. Davis has done similar "walkabouts" in many other business districts and has met with dozens of businesses on how to create an economic environment that will help them grow.
