House Votes to Increase Energy Security, Improve Economic Outlook

Location: Washington, DC

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3408 -- theProtecting Investment in Oil Shale the Next Generation of Environmental, Energy and Resource Security (PIONEERS) Act. ThePIONEERS Act would advance the production of more American-made energy.

"Expanding opportunities for American-made energy is fundamental to increasing our energy security, improving our economic outlook, and creating jobs here at home," said Chairman Price. "This legislation advanced through the House of Representatives today demonstrates the commitment on the part of House Republicans to an all-of-the-above energy policy. Our country must not turn its back on the vast resources we have here at home or undermine our relationships with key allies like Canada who are ready and willing to help us build a stronger energy future. Greater energy resources developed here at home will contribute to our economy and pave the way for more American jobs.

"The House Republican efforts on American-made energy stand in stark contrast to the Obama Administration's record. His rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline highlights his willingness to put politics ahead of sound policy. Meanwhile, the Obama Administration has preferred to pick winners and losers in the energy economy leaving taxpayers footing the bill for costly failures like the gamble on Solyndra. American families should not see their hard-earned tax dollars go to cover the failings of the president's political agenda while they are already paying higher prices at the pump. The all-of-the-above strategy House Republicans are pursuing will mean greater energy security and greater economic growth."
