Feinstein Statement on Approval of Payroll Tax Cut Extension

Statement

Date: Feb. 17, 2012
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement after the Senate and House passed a conference report extending the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits:

"Today's agreement to extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits is an important effort to maintain economic momentum.

"The payroll tax extension means an estimated $1,000 more in take-home pay for 17 million Californians. Today's agreement also preserves unemployment insurance for 550,000 Californians who would otherwise start losing benefits in just two weeks.

"I'm pleased that Republicans and Democrats came together to achieve this compromise, hopefully a sign of things to come to get this economy moving again."
