Issue Position

As Solicitor General, Ted Cruz played an instrumental role in the fight against government infringement of private property rights. Whether eminent domain abuse or the proliferation of congressional mandates, Cruz has worked to ensure that Texans' property is secure.

Authored a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of seven states in Rancho Viejo v. Norton, urging the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case and reverse a decision of the D.C. Circuit upholding congressional authority to halt commercial development of private property because of the presence of a purely intra-state species of Arroyo toads.
